SPECIAL OLYMPICS

The Special Olympics is coming January 9th and we are looking for volunteers and donations.

We are also looking for intermediate and senior skaters to perform in the opening ceremonies.  We will be practicing this Wednesday January 6th, 2016 after Canskate at 6:15pm-7:00pm (Seniors will skate from 7:10-8:50pm) and on Saturday at 8am. The Opening ceremonies will begin at 10am this Saturday.

Potsdam Snowflake Competition Results

potsdamThe girls had a great weekend in Potsdam with each of them earning medals. Congratulations Annika, Kadynn & Tori.

Results: Annika – 1st Compulsory moves, 2nd jumps, 3rd spins & solo.  Kadynn – 3rd Solo & interpretive, 4th showcase, 6th compulsory moves. Tori – 1st compulsory moves & 3rd interpretive.

Kadynn is heading to phase 2 of STAR program

KadynnKadynn Morrison has been chosen to participate in the STAR Program – Phase Two initiative. Members of Skate Canada EOS were impressed with the level of skating and participation at the initial Clinic on Thursday, Nov 19th.

Kadynn will next participate in 2016 EOSIC in Whitby (Feb 19- 21) and be monitored on site by Greg Rochefort, EOS Technical Director and after her performance he will meet with her,  her parents and Coach for a one-on-one session during the event weekend.

Kadynn is an intermediate skater at our club working on her Jr Bronze tests.

Tests Passed In Morrisburg

Congratulations to our skaters who passed their tests this past Friday Dec 4th in Morrisburg. Hannah Arthurs, Junior Bronze Elements, Sierra Hitsman, Junior Bronze Free, Jessica Madden Dutch Waltz and Canasta, and Makayla Markell, Gold Skills. Great job girls!!

Matthew is heading to Nationals in January 2016!

He finished 6th in the long with a personal best score of 71.74 with a total of 103.20! Nationals here we come! Thanks to everyone who wished him well. Matthew is heading to Edmonton for Challenge Event

~GOOD LUCK MATTHEW!!~   Matthew leaves for Edmonton on Friday to compete at the 2016 Skate Canada Challenge. He will compete in the Novice Men’s division which will see him compete with 30 skaters from across Canada. Matthew is striving to place in the top 18 which will secure him a spot to compete at the 2016 Canadian Tire National Skating Championships to be held in Halifax the week of January 18-January 24, 2016. If Matthew qualifies from Challenge, this will be his first National championship.
