Pre-CanSkate– Available for ages 2 and up, this program is designed for children who have never skated before, or who are still mastering the basic skills of getting up and down and moving on the ice. For safety, NO parents are allowed on the ice with the children – this is a child only program. Divided into 2 sessions during the winter season, you may choose to do October – December or January – March, or both. Lessons are given in a group format for 30 minutes on Wednesday evenings, and will be led by an NCCP certified professional coach. Professional coaches will be assisted by trained Program Assistants.

CanSkate is Skate Canada’s flagship learn-to-skate program, designed for children ages 5 and up OR children who are able to fall down and stand back up on their own. CanSkate focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. Children can earn badges as they learn the fundamental skills needed for any ice sport. Lessons are 50 minutes long in a group format, and take place from October – March on either Monday or Wednesday evening, or both. Lessons will be led by an NCCP certified professional coach, with the assistance of trained Program Assistants.

Senior CanSkate is a continuation of the CanSkate program, but designed for skaters who have passed their 3rd badge. Skaters will continue to develop the skills taught in CanSkate, but also have the opportunity to begin to learn to work on their own in preparation for moving on to STARSkate.

Intermediate and STARSkate  – Skills, Tests, Achievement, and Recognition is what this program is all about. STARSkate offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive skating. Skaters will have the opportunity to take Skate Canada Tests through a nationally standardized testing system. Offered on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings, this program is self-led by the skaters. There are NO group lessons offered in STARSkate. To qualify for the Intermediate session – skaters must have passed their 6th CanSkate badge. For STARSkate A, skaters must have passed their Junior Bronze Free Skate test OR been born in 2000 or earlier. *Runs from September – March.
